I know that this isn’t really a sports blog but, I am so happy that Tim Tebow got drafted in the first round last night.

It is so cool to see a guy who loves the Lord that much and gives all honor and glory to Him in all situations. Is he the most NFL ready Q.B. in the draft? Probably not. I’m glad though that Denver sees his love for the Lord, character, work ethic and athleticism and made the right choice.

I can’t wait to see what God has in store for this awesome young man.

Coming Home

There is not a better feeling than coming home to my family each day. Yes… I may be tired and want to retreat to the couch…and often times I do… but we as men need to remember that our greatest job responsibility is our family.

Our family is more important than any job or promotion or sporting event or hobby.

When coming home each day, instead of relaxing and hitting the TV, use that car ride to recharge and ask God to give you the energy to be the husband/father that he made you to be. This means spending time with them…laughing with them… talking with them… playing with them…

I’m not the perfect husband or the perfect father… and this has been convicting to me lately… hopefully it opens others eyes as well.

Calling

I was reading a Facebook post of a well-known pastor yesterday. He wrote a post explaining that he was planning on planting another church in another state. I think that is GREAT!

So did everyone else….

Everyone on the post kept telling the pastor to come to their city and state. They explained that they needed a “good church” in their area. They said that no church in their area was reaching anyone.

So why don’t THEY start one in their city?

Why as Christians do we often wait for someone else to do something that God has revealed to us? Why do we feel that ministry is only for “full-time” ministers or people who have gone to seminary? We always seem to use the excuse “God hasn’t called me to _______”. Well, if God is putting a conviction or revelation in your heart… He’s calling you.

Test the call… (Is it in line with Scripture? Have you talked about it with Godly council?)

Pray about the call… (and pray some more)

If you still feel the call…

Get out there and obey God.

If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

Sometimes (Usually for me) the Word of God can just pierce our hearts with its brutal truth and bring conviction upon our sinful hearts. This verse is so clear.

Are you loving others?

Everyone is important to God. If God is important to you, then the things that are important to God should be important to you.

I hope that this verse is as convicting to you as it is to me.

Why are you here?

Do you ever think about why God made you the way you are?

I mean… Your height, your weight, your geographic location…etc.

Do you ever consider WHY God did that?

I can tell you why. You see, God, in His beautiful plan, made you the way you are for a specific purpose.

His glory.

That’s it.

God put you wherever you are right now to bring glory to His name. He gave you a platform to tell others about Him.

Have you thought that you might just be in a job right now or in a class specifically for the purpose of telling others about Christ? We usually think that our purpose is the task at hand… such as school or work… but as believers, our main purpose is Christ and His glory.

Take some time to think about where you are and why. What are you doing for the Kingdom?

Gossip

One thing that is very common is most people’s lives is gossip. People LOVE digging into people’s private lives an digging up their faults and mistakes.

I mean, go to your nearest grocery store. When you enter the checkout line, what do you find? DOZENS of magazines that sell gossip as their product. When you turn on the TV or the radio what are they talking about? Gossip about a celebrity or politician. We eat up gossip in America. We love it and it consumes us.

I want to challenge each of you (including myself) to check your motives and your heart when talking about others. Are you bringing up a shortcoming or struggle of someone else in order to fulfill your gossip need or are you lifting them up to pray for them and help them?

Many of us spend our lives trying to do things on our own. The truth is, we can. You could climb the corporate ladder, make a lot of money, get famous, even grow a HUGE “church” without Christ being in it. However, if Christ’s glory isn’t the center of what we do, why bother? You see, we were created for one purpose…to glorify our awesome God.

In your life, ask God for the Holy Spirit to do what only He can do to bring glory to Jesus Christ.

Whatever you do….do it for the glory of God.

It sure has been a while since I’ve updated! Needless to say, I’ve been busy with all that life brings.

Currently, I am living in Allentown, PA, working as an Interim Manager for Chick-fil-A. I am having a blast!

My wife and I also found out that we are having another baby since my last post. We certainly are excited and would ask that you all would pray that God would guide us as we are preparing to become the parents of 2.

Alright… enough about the life update. I’m really not that cool of a person anyway.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and am halfway through a book by Francis Chan called “Forgotten God”. It’s a book about the Holy Spirit and how many Christians know very little about Him. It’s a pretty good book. It doesn’t get too deep, but rather stays on the surface on what can be a very DEEP theological issue.

I want to know what you all think about the Holy Spirit? What does He do? What does He not do? What questions do you have about the Holy Spirit?

Being Sick Stinks

I’m sitting here,sick, on a chilly rainy day in Atlanta. It’s certainly not fun. It’s really weird though. I ALWAYS get sick when the seasons change from hot to cold or cold to hot. NO JOKE! My wife, when we were dating, never used to believe me. She thought I was just saying that until she saw that I always got sick at the change of seasons.

There is certainly hope though for those in Christ Jesus. God has prepared a place for us with no sickness, no death, no suffering, no hunger and no evil! The more amazing thing about that is we deserve hell. Because of sin, we deserve sickness, death, suffering and our hearts are inherently evil. God, in his marvelous love, chose to gave us grace though. What an amazing God we worship!

Creation

I’m shocked at the number of “educated” people who believe in evolution. I remember sitting in my science classes in college with all of my professors who had their PhD in their respective fields of study. These men were brilliant and could tell you anything about their subject…until it came to the orgin of the universe.

Nevermind the fact that evolution contradicted every scientific law that they chose to teach or that they clearly couldn’t possibly explain how the original matter evolved since matter cannot be created or destroyed. It just doesn’t make since.

I look at this world and it’s beauty. I see the complexity of the human body. I’ve witnessed the birth of my baby girl. I’ve seen sunrises while riding in airplanes and sunsets while sitting by the beach. You can’t possibly look at this world and say that it is here for no reason.

I believe what the Bible says, that God created the universe in 7 days.

I believe that God receives all glory for all that I see in this world.

We worship a wonderful, beautiful and marvelous God.
